Throughout this month, we will be running a feature called ‘Footloose February’ on our Facebook Fan Page. In this we will be listing out some interesting facts, less known specialties of some destinations, events being held this month and some fascinating aspects about places from all over India. Here is what we have features so far.
- Shimla. The British summer capital still has some remnants of the Raj Era. One of them is the Asia’s oldest photo-studio on the Mall Road. Bindra Studio is where you can get yourself photographed in traditional Himachali dress along with your partner!
- Goa. Sossegado is Portugese for ‘relax’. And sossegado seems to be the way of Goan life. But four days starting from Feb 13th, Goa shakes up to celebrate the annual carnival with parades of bright floats and masquerading dancers. 2010 also marks the 500th year of arrival of Portugese in Goan shores, the people who first started the carnival in Goa. http://www.goa-tourism.com/carnival_event.asp
- Chandigarh. Don’t dismiss Chandigarh as yet another noisy city. Take the forest trail in its backyard from Nepali to Kansal Area. Walk through hillocks, bridges over rainfed brooks and abundant flora. Lookout for Antelopes, Neelgai, Hyena ‘s and Jackals. Contact chief wildlife warden for permits at 0172-2775951.
